Research Coordinator, Early Childhood Education
About
Dr Sarah Farquhar is a parent of a young family of 5 fabulous children and has over 25 years experience in childcare and early education. She is a former Massey University academic, Wellington College of Education lecturer, Riverton kindergarten head teacher, and gained some interesting but thankfully brief experience as CE0 of a lobby group for childcare centre business owners.
Her research areas have included defining quality in early childhood services, men in teaching and childcare, and breastfeeding-friendly ECE services. She's undertaken research contracts for a Best Evidence synthesis on "quality teaching: early foundations" and a study of the Parents as First Teachers Programme.
Today Sarah is delighted to be heading ChildForum, an innovative group of networks for parents and educators, early education service managers, and researchers. ChildForum provides fresh thinking on early childhood education with information and answers on a diverse range of topics. It publishes NZ's only academic peer-reviewed early childhood journal the NZRECE journal, provides the annual NZ early childhood research conference and advises and supports researchers.
